Center mounted tilt rods add a feeling of balance and are very popular, but when the windows are facing a truly beautiful view the tilt rod can be visually distracting.

Our Horizon™style features twin tilt rods that are mounted on the outside edges of the lovers. In addition to providing an unobstructed view, the tilt rods provide extra privacy and enhanced light control by blocking light leakage at the sides of the louver.

Not All Windows Are Created Equal

Every window opening is unique, and this includes sets of seemingly identical openings in the same wall. Your O'Hair dealer measures every opening and designs a shutter or venetian for each individual window, achieving a look of perfect uniformity while concealing any irregularities in the openings. This attention to detail is a basic requirement for achieving perfect integration into the existing architecture. In addition, O'Hair offers the largest number of custom fit options available. For example, in the above design a plain untrimmed opening is enhanced by choosing a shutter frame with integrated trim.

Enclosed Miniblinds and O'Hair Shutters

Miniblinds are a popular solution but they are easily damaged. When they are installed as enclosed miniblinds within two panes of glass and a problem arises (as seen in the uneven settling of the louvers in the left photo), the solution is to replace the window. In contrast, O'Hair shutters provide a clean, elegant and uncluttered look and they swing open for ease of maintenance.

Smooth Curved Panels With No Stair-Stepping

The smooth contours of an O'Hair Pattern Horizontal™ are available in a wide variety of configurations in both curved and angled designs. They are also available in single span "eyebrow" designs and in multi-panel arrangements (above, left).

As seen in the rear view (above, right), the louvers in the curved section operate within scalloped recesses, which avoids the star-stepping that is found in competing designs. Unlike shutters of lesser quality, all of the louvers in a Pattern Horizontal™shutter are linked by a synchronized tilt system, including those at the top of the panel.

Inner Beauty, Inner Strength

One of the weakest points of a typical shutter is the connection between the louver and the tilt rod. O'Hair shutters use louvers constructed from solid  bookmatched hardwood, which provides plenty of holding power for our premium #304 stainless steel staples. This is not the case with many faux wood louvers, which are often formed from moulded plastic with a core made of foam.

Even so, the weakest point with most louvers is not the louver itself but the tilt rod. The simple fact is that a normal tilt rod simply doesn't have the thickness needed for a staple to get a solid grip. This is not an issue with O'Hair shutters. This is because, rather than using a staple in the tilt rod, we use a solid metal strip that is permanently embedded within a slot in the tilt rod. During assembly the continuous tilt linkage is threaded through the louvers and then bonded to the tilt rod, forming a solid reinforced unit.

At O'Hair we do not see a shutter as a commodity product but as an investment for a homeowner. It is because of this that we construct our shutters, quite literally, to last for generations. This is how we can provide a transferable limited lifetime warranty - a warranty that is good for the life of the home, not just the homeowner.
